50h Online Yin yoga teacher training

Just as the light cannot exist without the dark, yang cannot exist without yin.

Yin yoga offers us a balancing force in our yoga practice in relation to the strong dynamic styles of yoga such as hatha, vinyasa and ashtanga. OUR YOGA SPACE in Sydney is about waking up. Waking up to your true potential, and the life that you’ve been dreaming of in those quiet moments of reflection. We believe that the tools of yoga offer us a path towards that life. Yin Yoga - described by Bernie Clark, author of The Complete Guide To Yin Yoga, as “the other half of yoga” allows us to finally slow down long enough to attune to our true nature. Our 50 HR Yin Yoga Teacher Training and Practice Immersion will give you the tools to teach yin yoga, if you’re already a qualified yoga teacher, as well as the insights of how to bring yin yoga more deeply, and effectively into your life. This training is open to both yoga teachers, and dedicated yin yoga students.

Joseph Rundle

About Joseph

Growing up in Japan, Joseph was inspired by the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of the Far East, particularly by Zen Buddhism. He sojourned at the Eiheiji Temple, the original Zen Buddhist monastery in Japan, practicing meditation. He was introduced to basic yoga as a young teen in Japan by an Indian yoga guru who was enroute to America. Joseph actively teaches Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin Yoga and The Hush Hour Meditation Group in Sydney. Meditation and contemplation practices have been vital in his personal journey. Teaching meditation by bringing together a Zen foundation with contemplative methods in Jnana yoga, he draws inspiration from Zen masters such as Dogen (founder of Japanese Zen), Shunryu Suzuki, Chang Tzu, Thich Nhat Hahn and Adyashanti; and from various Indian masters such as Ramana Maharshi and Nisgardatta Maharaj, and modern teachers such as Mooji, Gangaji, and Eckhart Tolle

It is normal to have questions, or feel unsure about embarking on your first YTT. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive.

  • Nope. Our course is designed for yoga teachers, however, in each intake of 20 we always have at least 3-5 dedicated students who are not yoga teachers.

  • Yes! Of course. Provided you already have a minimum of a 200 HR Yoga certificate.

  • Of course. These days, yoga teacher training is where curious students go to learn the deeper practices of yoga. If you want to teach great, if not - you’ll still get a lot of valuable information and experience out of the course that you can use in whatever way you like.

Why train with us? Well we are a little different! We believe…

In presence over performance

We’re much less interested in what your yoga practice looks like, and much more concerned with what it feels like, and how you relate to your body and your experience on the mat. Yoga is an inner process, which can not be measured by how deep your forward bends are, or how far you go into saddle. The asana are tools that help us explore, and understand ourselves more deeply, not the ultimate goal in themselves.

In inclusivity, accessibility and fun

Yoga truly is for every-body, and we don’t just give this idiom lip service we actually live it. Our 200 HR Foundations Teacher Training always includes a module on Trauma Informed Yoga and Accessible Yoga, and our yin yoga course opens up the conversation about individual variation in skeletal structure ( biology ) and personal history ( biography ).

If you have an injury or limitation our faculty cares, and is super skilled in how to work with almost every situation. We’ve had students enrol in our Teacher Trainings from the age of 19 - 74 and we’ve loved them all.

In studying with the best

Our highly experienced faculty have trained with some of the best Yin Yoga teachers in the world.

Em Cruickshank, the creator and lead trainer of the 50 HR Yin Course has been specialising in yin yoga for over a decade, after first training with Sarah Powers ( author of Insight Yoga ) in Thailand. Since that time she has continued to study under Sarah and Ty Powers, Jo Phee, Paul Griley, Dr Daniel Keown, Grand Master Mantak Chia, Lama Tendar, Robert Peng and AcuEnergetics.

Our anatomy teacher Michael Scott has been practicing physiotherapist just as long! He has combined his in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology with over 450 hours immersed in yoga training and yin specialities. He brings a unique understanding of physical and energetic relationships and how best to combine the two for restoration and rehabilitation.

Joseph Rundle, our inner methods teacher, has a long history of practice from the Zen Buddhist tradition sojourned at the Eiheiji Temple, the original Zen Buddhist monastery in Japan. Combining his inner practice with a concentrated study of both Yang and Yin Yoga traditions, Joseph is well known for providing digestible insight and practices to awaken the physical practices of Yin Yoga.

In integrating scientific research and knowledge from other disciplines

Yoga has a lot going for it. It’s an ideal practice to soothe an overactive nervous system. Its history and wisdom is rich, varied and fascinating. We love integrating the best of that ancient wisdom and modern science together in a way that serves your intelleshesctual mind, just as much as your inspired heart.

In creating a supportive, long term community

We run a small, intimate yoga studio where you’ll never get lost in the crowd. Each training forms an intimate community within itself, however after graduation you become a part of our wider network of teachers, and alumni who continue to engage and support each other years after the training finishes.
